Epicom’s Google Analytics Integration Expands Tracking And Reporting Capabilities For Clients
Epicom’s engineers have created a custom module in SugarCRM to store historical traffic information from clients’ public websites. In order to integrate Google Analytics with SugarCRM, Epicom developed code that polled the Google Analytics Data API to retrieve visitor and pageview counts. This data was then stored in the new custom module so data could be used on reports.
To easily display and report the web analytics, users can simply create a summation report with details using the new “Google Analytics” module. Creating the report will allow users to display the number of visitors per month with a graph.
Also, you can set the report to display columns for:
- Specific date
- Number of bounces
- New site visits
- Number of pageviews
- Visitors time on the site
- Number of overall visitors
- Number of total visits
By integrating Google Analytics with the CRM system, users have the convenience of tracking and reporting everything inside one defined space. Additionally, users can compare the number of website visitors with the number of leads created through web to lead forms.

Is the data related to campaign pulled as well?
Providing that the trackers have google tags, it should be easy to extend the campaign reporting to add analytics to the bounced / opening / click through bar chart. That will allow tracking to visit, time spend, all the way to the goals.
This could also automate campaign ROI for e-commerce website.
We would be happy to collaborate on this extension. We have been thinking about it for a while.
Stephane- Thank you for your comment. Our google analytics integration doesn’t currently pull in campaign data, but is something that could easily be implemented for landing page campaigns as well as email campaigns. Feel free to contact us to further discuss doing an extension on this integration. (512) 481-9000. Thanks!
Is there any known issues with hosting Sugar CRM on the same location as your corporate website wrt. negatively impacting search ranking?
Peter – We host our own SugarCRM system on Epicom’s hosting platform and our website is hosted using WordPress. The search ranking is not related to our CRM system. I’m not clear on whether or not that was your question, so correct me if I miss understood. In relation to our web traffic reports, that data is pulled directly out of Google Analytics and placed into our CRM system. Using SugarCRM’s reports module, we can compare website traffic trends to lead source and opportunities created or won in order to see the correlation of the two occurrences. It also helps marketers to see the effect of campaigns and marketing projects without ever leaving SugarCRM.
