Epicom has developed a web application that provides a support portal to SugarCRM. With this application you, the client, can allow your customers to log into a website where they can enter support requests and check on support status. All of this information is managed and stored in the CRM system, but it is made available to non-CRM users (such as customers) through an external secure website.
Nearly any information that is stored in the CRM system can be displayed to non-CRM users using the portal. But the typical use case is for the submission of support requests.
This portal is very handy for the following reasons:
- It is secure.
- Login credentials (user name and password) for portal users are stored in the CRM system in the Contact record for the associated portal user. This means that customers don’t have to manage two different databases of user credentials.
- Portal users do NOT need CRM licenses, so this is a very cost effective way to distribute critical CRM data to a wide variety of users (or customers)
- The portal is a web application, so it can be styled with logos and colors to match your regular public website.
